2015 Market

The 2014 harvest was a record year as growers received the highest recorded field price. The 2015 minimum field price is $1.22 per pound, the second highest opening price ever.

Turkey is expected to produce a late crop of about 700,000 tons. Rains in the Black Sea region, where most of Turkey’s hazelnuts are grown, have delayed the crop entering the market. Kernel buyers will continue to have quality and supply issues with Turkey.

This year the inshell market is strong, with Chinese and U.S. buyers contracting for inshell nuts. We continue to work with new customers to diversify across markets.
